This project is 1/6 theme-based contributions to the System Oriented Design course. Our task was to speculate the possible desired future district, create interventions and change in Trøndelag by 2040.  The delivery is spoken from a perspective of 2040 as today. Our theme focused on food and fibre production, with the main question;

How can we maximise provisioning services in the farming and forestry sector, while also providing ecological functionality in production zones?

The world has become increasingly complex, and sectors are realizing they need to address the issue holistically in order to uncover the root causes and secure a sustainable path within all areas - it is inevitable that everything is interconnected.
In 2020, the Norwegian degree of self-sufficiency in food was just below 50%. We were completely dependent on international trade. When the Covid-19 pandemic occurred, this dependency made us vulnerable due to a lack of international labor and transportation. The Norwegian government became aware of the need for an increase in food security, considering future conflicts, pandemics, climate changes, and environ-mental disasters.

This resulted in the establishment of The Norwegian Defence of Natural Resources. The NDNR is an alternative conscription service to the Norwegian Armed Forces, aiming to implement new social structures to assist the local communities with affordable labor and cross-scale cooperation. The NDNR consists of seven troops, which are stationed in relevant municipalities to contribute to the local community and agricultural industry. The NDNR is intended to ensure regenerative agriculture and optimal utilization of resources.

 We selected a region in Trøndelag, Heim municipality.
